Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'art contemporain
- Altars of MadnessExtreme metal emerged in the second half of the 1980s through three distinct musical genres with different principles, aesthetics and evolutions: grind core, death-metal and black-metal. Like all underground cultures, extreme metal is not a story which can be lived by proxy. And so it appears that some artists, whose works have been deeply affected by this, have actively participated in this scene since an age at which they probably didn't know that their thoughts would become works of art. The Altars of Madness exhibition project displays and brings together the works of art of this generation of artists who were affected by extreme metal, accompanied by a few others who are pertinent witnesses of this musical scene or who have brilliantly contributed to shaping its iconography.

Casino Luxembourg – Forum for Contemporary Art
41, rue Notre-Dame / L-2240 Luxembourg
Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’Art Contemporain organises exhibitions on contemporary art attesting to the variety and complexity of current art movements. The international exhibition programme – mostly featuring young artists – gives a compre- hensive insight into contemporary creation. With its exhibitions and artist residencies, Casino Luxembourg, regardless of any museological concerns, functions like an artistic and experimental think tank focusing on the latest trends in the art scene. A rich cultural programme, ranging from general guided and thematic tours, conferences and round tables to performances of contem- porary music complement the exhibitions. The InfoLab of Casino Luxembourg is, to date, the only specialised library of contempo- rary art in Luxembourg open to the public.
