Audiovisual performance: RAFTSIDE – "The Modern Hope", by Filip Markiewicz
    20h00 (Video – musique – pop | 60 min)

With The Modern Hope, the title of RAFTSIDE's new album, visual artist and musician Filip Markiewicz merges his electronic compositions and visual universe in an immersive audiovisual performance. Presented as part of the Museum Night in Luxembourg, this lively and evolving creation deconstructs the album on stage, combining music, video and performance art.

The work explores the links between pop culture, populism, science, artificial intelligence and art history to compose a sound and video tableau that is poetic, critical and interactive. Each performance is unique, incorporating live references to current events and the context of the venue. In this new version, RAFTSIDE invites the audience to participate, extending the experience in an Ultrasocial Pop format that blurs the boundaries between stage and spectators.

Polish-Luxembourgish artist Filip Markiewicz represented Luxembourg at the 56th Venice Biennale (2015) and has exhibited in numerous museums and art centres in Europe. His RAFTSIDE project, described by Intro magazine as ‘a meeting between The Strokes and Kraftwerk’, has shared the stage with The Streets, Idles, Daft Punk, Cat Power and Metronomy. He has also performed at the Basel Theatre, the Staatstheater Cottbus and the Louvre Museum.

Part concert, part installation, part pop manifesto, The Modern Hope is reinvented here as a total experience where electronic music, images and words construct a sensitive and political space that is both intimate and collective.

  • Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart
    Moonrise: an immersive installation
    Ongoing

Join us for a moonlit encounter with Danish painter Laurits Tuxen’s Moonrise (1909) at this year’s Museum Night. Acquired earlier this year, this meditative painting will be showcased in an intimate, immersive setting designed to enhance its atmospheric qualities. Subtle lighting, ambient soundscapes and discreet projections transform the space into a fragment of a nocturnal seascape, where sea and sky dissolve into abstraction. Designed by the creative agency Explose, the installation invites visitors to experience the painting’s dreamlike atmosphere, enhancing the sensory impact of the artwork. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience the evocative power of Tuxen’s art in a setting that speaks to all the senses.

  • Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart

Meet our mediators in the exhibition rooms of "Beyond The Frame. Rethinking Photography"
    18h00 - 23h00

As part of the European Month of Photography, the exhibition Beyond the Frame. Rethinking Photography at the Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart focuses on contemporary concerns about the visual language of photography, its creative possibilities and its role in today's world. The featured artists (Jessica Backhaus, Marta Djourina, Joan Fontcuberta, Alice Pallot, Letizia Romanini, Jorma Puranen, Joost Vandebrug) explore different aspects of experimental photography, playing with abstraction, light, materiality and space while using both traditional and innovative techniques. In this group show, each artist moves beyond the frame to question photography as a medium, its ability to represent reality and its place in an increasingly digital and post-photographic world.

From 6 pm until 11 pm our museum guides are available in the exhibition rooms to answer your questions.

  • Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart
Meet our mediators in the exhibition rooms of "Land in Motion. Transforming People and Nature"
    18h00 - 23h00

This interdisciplinary exhibition explores the evolving relationship between landscapes and humans. Through archaeological, historical and artistic narratives, the show illustrates how people and nature have influenced, shaped and sometimes harmed each other throughout the centuries. This complex and dynamic relationship is explored in a presentation designed to appeal to the senses. Featuring a special itinerary for children, the exhibition is open to all ages and family friendly.

From 6 pm until 11 pm our museum guides are available in the exhibition rooms to answer your questions.

Meet the Artist: Live Drawing Project by Alexandra Uppman
    19h00 & 22h00 (EN & FR)

As part of the exhibition Land in Motion. Transforming People and Nature, artist Alexandra Uppman is creating a special on-site piece at the museum. The final work will be a large-scale triptych oil-based charcoal drawing, depicting a landscape that highlights the beauty of nature and forestry with subtle references to the artist’s affinity for folklore and ancient practices. In light of the rapid decline in native insect populations and plant species, she seeks to share her perspective on the natural world through her own eerie lens. The project will unfold over two months, until 15 November.

On 11 October, during Museum Night, Alexandra Uppman will be present in the museum to meet visitors. She will be available to talk about her work, her practice and the ongoing piece.

SUSTAINABILITY

Green Events

The Museum Night 2025 has received the logo ‘Green Events’ for its commitment to the environment. The logo is awarded by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity in the framework of the ‘Green Events’ project. More information on: greenevents.lu

Our commitment to a more sustainable event is reflected in the following actions:

- Our communications have gone green! We print climate-neutral on recycled paper. And to further reduce our ecological footprint, the evening's programme is available exclusively online.

- Special shuttle buses! Along with free public transport, special shuttle buses will run between the seven museums throughout the evening. In addition to our beloved historic buses, we introduced 100% electric mini-buses! Take a look at our shuttle timetable. You can also use the free Night Bus services offered by multiple municipalities for a hassle-free trip back home. Further information: mobiliteit.lu

- Eat local and organic food! Discover a culinary offer that is partly local and organic, with vegetarian and vegan options.

- All reusable! This year, the museums are opting exclusively for reusable tableware and will no longer be handing out single-use gadgets.

Want to go the extra mile in supporting us? The museum shops will be open during the Museum Night. Don’t forget to bring your own bags — it’s better for the environment!

SAY CHEESE !

Photos and videos of the activities and audience may be taken throughout the event. They will then be used across different channels for communication purposes. If you do not wish for your children or yourself to appear on these photos, please make this known at the information desk.
